Why does the bottle material matter?

The bottle material contributes to many factors of the overall package with some being aesthetics and more importantly some are performance related. These performance characteristics are:

• Compatibility of closure, the bottle and cap should be different materials in most cases to stop the closure binding to the bottle. This is also true when combining a PET bottle and Polypropylene cap.
• Compatibility of any induction seal used. When choosing to apply an induction seal there is a bonding layer which sticks to the bottle which needs to be matched correctly for a good bond to be possible.
